Santa Marinella Hotel
Santa Marinella, Italy
Santa Marinella is a municipality of 16,727 inhabitants in the province of Rome. It is an elegant seaside resort, 7 m above sea level, famous for the fish caught daily by local fishermen, from clams to seafood, from red mullet to scampi. It is located in the stretch of coast from Santa Severa to Civitavecchia, the coast is rocky and the few sandy stretches have been created by continuously bringing sand from the sea that year after year tried to take as much as possible away. For this reason, the large breakwater was built in the mid-1900s, today home to numerous sea urchins. Modern seaside resort, it stands where the Etruscan and then Roman port of Punicum once operated, one of the three ports of the nearby Etruscan city of Cerveteri. Unfortunately, there are few traces of the ancient city scattered here and there along the vast territory. The original nucleus of the city extends lengthwise along the sea and along the ancient Via Aurelia. The town is well connected to Rome and Civitavecchia by both bus and train, in fact the railway station is in a fairly central position, between streets and shops and the sea. And it is precisely behind the railway line that the new residential areas extend.
